This set of three artworks features one of each of the stunning SushiBird Tiles - Natsuki Bamboo, Sakura Blossom and Manami Twig.

Vibrant, graphic birds created from Japanese papers nest on stylised background patterns inspired by nature. The white line work illustrations are hand painted on solid natural timber, and each element of the SushiBirds is lovingly cut by hand from carefully combined paper colours and patterns, creating a stylish, elegant series of artworks with a contemporary feel.

Each SushiBird Tile is made in a limited edition of 50, and personally signed and numbered by artist Lisa Tilse. Each set is made up of matching edition numbers. As they are individually created by hand, no two will ever be the same. Finished with a semi-gloss varnish for protection, the pieces have a luxurious sheen that enhances the natural grain and warmth of the timber.

inspiration
Lisa created the SushiBird Tiles after a trip to Japan. Inspired by both the traditional and contemporary Japanese design aesthetic, she wanted to use her collection of beautiful Japanese papers. “I enjoy working on timber as a canvas for my art and I like the immediacy and lack of preciousness of works that aren’t framed behind glass.”
