Caitlin Klooger is the Melbourne-based designer behind the label Pippijoe. As a Landscape Architect with a background in Interior Design, Caitlin has combined her design interests to create her own range of textiles, homewares and accessories under the art direction of her 2 and 4 year old children.

“I've always been in the process of making something! I generally have a few things on the go at any one time and am always looking towards the next creation.”

Caitlin draws her inspiration mainly from nature, outings to gardens and parks plus she tries to visit galleries regularly. “It's great that I can see so much design online so it's easier to see what's out there while at home with the kids! I love reading design magazines and books as well. There are so many gorgeous ones! Marimekko, Florence Broadhurst, Orla Kiely and Tricia Guild are all designers who inspire.”

“Usually my designs start as sketches on paper that are further developed on the computer. I carry a notepad and pencils in my bag so can get them out any time inspiration strikes, later on I flick through the sketches and choose elements to develop further. Once the designs are printed on fabric I play around with the sewing machine and see what emerges. I love experimenting with different materials.”

All Pippijoe fabrics are screenprinted by hand in Melbourne, using environmentally friendly inks. Printed on gorgeous 100% hemp or hemp/cotton mixes, which are soft to touch and feel like linen, Pippijoe fabrics are perfect for crafts, bags, clothing, soft furnishings and light upholstery.
