About EDWARD & LILLY

Rebecca Cason, the creative mind behind Edward & Lilly, specialises in combining traditional craft practices of sewing and embroidery with a fresh approach to design. Creating soft toys for any age and contemporary embroidery designs for everyday items, Rebecca makes each Edward and Lilly product unique with tiny stitches and gorgeous details.
"My background is in Art History and I've worked in the sector for over ten years, during this time I've been surrounded and challenged by a wide range of visual imagery. During the day my head works in a world of constant visual stimulus and the business side of creative enterprise, at night I sew. I itch when things don't grow and develop. My first love is the challenge of understanding concepts behind contemporary art, my second is supporting and being part of the handmade movement."
Rebecca's technique, choice of fabric and colour palette are inspired by a fusion of Japanese and French craft. The Brisbane craft community is a huge inspiration to her as well; "Without the support of the BrisStyle Etsy Street Team this would still be a hobby."
On a never-ending quest for the perfect linen for each of her products, Rebecca spends a lot of time sourcing and testing high quality fabric and felt for each of her products.
Rebecca's embroidered products feature original embroidery designs transferred from her own sketches. Each of her softie designs originally began as a gift for a loved one or for someone in need. The cute details are a result of a design process inspired by her nieces. "I am passionate about original craft and design and believe this is reflected in my work."
