About RENEE ANNE
Sydney artist Renee Baker has always been passionate about drawing, creating, making and doing ~ and says that right now she is happiest doing exactly that!
Part way through a degree in teaching at the College of Fine Arts, Renee realised that high school teaching was not for her and that her heart truly lies with print-making and drawing. Currently working as a medical administrator, Renee busies herself with her art & other artistic side projects whenever possible.
Renee draws her inspiration from many sources; pictures and movies, songs and dancing, friends and photos, blogs and magazines, thoughts and feelings, dreams and memories. “Quite interestingly I am most inspired after a good yoga session!”
“I like to think that I am continually evolving and developing, yet resolved and confident. I draw for a number of reasons, which is why I don't think I will ever have a distinct style. I don't keep a written diary, so often my drawings are a way of clearing some space in my mind.”
Working mostly with pen, pencil and digital collage, Renee likes to use recycled materials and papers whenever possible. “I try to buy as little supplies as possible (making sure I have used up all that I have first!). I have a small pencil case filled with my tools and a clip board with a stack of paper. So really I can be drawing anywhere I please!” Popular locations for Renee to create her art tend to be outside by the lake near her office, on the kitchen bar and most often on the couch with candles lit and her laptop near by.
