About HEATHERKEIKO

Sydney-born Heather McDonald designs sculptural, playful felt jewellery using simple mediums, aimed at creating evocative pieces that form their own texture through repetition and layering.
With a creative background in Interior Architecture, Heather worked in the industry for 5 years. Completing a Masters of Design allowed her fascination for textures, jewellery and printmaking to grow and find a new form. After travelling extensively throughout Europe and North Africa, Heather ventured out and drew on her travel experiences and inspirations to start her brand HeitherKeiko.
Heather draws her inspiration from her surrounds, be it in the natural environment where intricate organic forms are to be found, or the built environment around us, where rigid lines and structures inspire her compositions. "I prefer to work with natural materials such as 100% wool felt, leather, cotton and linen. I find that the natural materials that I work with have such beautiful inherent qualities that continue to inspire my work."
Through her work Heather hopes to raise people's awareness of handmade goods and the Australian craft industry.
