Thea & Sami design and screen-print original designs on sustainable and organic fabrics. Encouraged from childhood, the designer, Thea Samios developed a love for craft but it wasn’t until later in life that she was free to pursue her passion seriously. Studying Craft & Design at Sheridan College (now Sheridan Institute) in Canada, Thea majored in Textiles and graduated from the programme with honours in 2005.
Thea and her family returned to her beloved Brisbane in 2006 to pursue the sunny Australian lifestyle she so missed. Here she has set up her screenprinting studio producing a stunning range of hand-printed homewares, accessories and fabrics.
“I only work with natural fabrics, particularly linens and organic fibres. The inks we use are water-based and non-toxic and only work on natural fabrics. I have chosen to do so for environmental reasons but also because the natural products are far superior and lovelier to the touch.
Thea & Sami utilise the local services of other talented people such as pattern-makers and machinists to keep all their products Australian Made and Sweat-Shop Free.
